The Tragedy Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare - 972 Words

In the Tragedy of Macbeth, William Shakespeare utilizes a series of themes through the behaviors of many different characters. Some themes seen more clearly throughout the play are those of monarchy, tyranny, and gender. Perhaps the most prominent theme in the whole play is that of the â€Å"unsexing† of Lacy Macbeth’s character. Lady Macbeth wants to act in such a way that is not connected to her gender; we see this and how it relates to the plot and her part in both the rising action and climax in the book. Lady Macbeth tries very hard to unsex herself and yet in the end, she becomes the epitome of what women were seen as, weak and at fault. Shakespeare writes Lady Macbeth’s character so that she is to blame for many things that happen and never once does the reader feel remorse for her fate because of what she has done in the past. Lady Macbeth is the wife of Macbeth and the only woman character who plays a part in the plot of the play. In the beginning of the play the reader sees her as a cunning woman who, in her ambition, pushes Macbeth to kill King Duncan after she finds out of the prophecy. In 1619, there was a Dutch ship that arrived in America to trade for food. But instead of an object, such as silk or wine, they were trading humans. These humans were Africans who were not treated as normal human beings, but as if they were just an object or animal. On their voyage over to America, all the slaves were crammed into the lower part of the ship. They were forbidden to move and had to remain lying down for the entire voyage. For those on the ship to be sure the slaves were not causing any trouble, the men on the ship had put chains on the large group of slaves or indentured servants, historians are unsure. The enslaving of people was not as common as slavery, but it had been happening in South and Central America, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean. Another issue that was mentioned in the Kraft takeover of Cadbury was that â€Å" a company taking over inevitably dominates and imposes its values and decision making processes†. When an M;A pursue an investment of a product in their market, they are not too familiar with the information of the product itself. This lack of assurance that the product will succeed i. e. the product will bring in profit over long range of time, will cause potential shareholders or shareholders to not take part in any form of investment of the company. This creation of loss and poor strategic approaches causes eventual value destruction. Another significant issue of a value destroyer is the complexity of a product. M;A fail to manage the complexity of a new product leading to failure in capturing value. In the case of a merger or a takeover, the effectiveness of complexity management becomes more vital and problematical. Conclusion Mergers and acquisitions will do their utter most best in order to create value. The stepping-stone in which that this can be obtained is primarily down to the relationships between the managers and employees in both sets of companies. A moderate approach gives Lawrence Sports the ability to maintain the relationships necessary to continue business, balance the working capital to still create a profit, and repay what is owed to the bank. Risk It is important for a company to choose the best working capital policy, one that features a level of risk the company can handle. Team C decisions about working capital management are being driven by the intrinsically related priority of risk management. Team C’s aim is to minimize the risk of insolvency while maximizing the return on the assists (Dixon, 1991). Teams C choose the matching working capital policy because it entails a medium level of risk and it will also leave Lawrence Sports with more cash to reinvest in the business. Lawrence Sports will keep low levels of working capital so that they can employ the funds more productively elsewhere like purchasing more goods or more machinery. It is a relatively amount of risk balanced by a relatively moderate amount of expected return. The best level of working capital would be the one in which a balance is achieved between risk and efficiency which also requires continuous monitoring to maintain proper level in various components of working capital, i. e. , cash receivables, inventory and payables, etc. Contingencies A contingency is an unexpected event or situation that affects the financial health, professional image, or market share of a company. It is usually a negative event, but can also be an unexpected windfall such as a huge order. Anything that unexpectedly disrupts a company’s expected operation can harm the company even if the disruption is because of a windfall (Duff, 2013). In the case of Lawrence Sports there should be a contingency plan in place in the event product is damaged or lost either in transit or by some unforeseen event. Another contingency plan Lawrence Sports should consider is a cash reserve to cover accounts receivable loses if Mayo defaults on invoice credits. In this case vendor defaults affect bottom line but in turn Lawrence would not have to borrow money from Gartner and avoid high interest rates. For Lawrence to recover from such an incident Lawrence Sports needs to use its working capital to cover the costs so that funds are not continuously incurred on the bank loan. In order for Lawrence Sports to raise the capital to cover a contingency plan Mayo would have to relinquish all sales to Lawrence Sports, payments to Gartner will have to be stretched out further and Murray would lose working capital and halt operations because Lawrence Sports payments would be differed even longer. These hefty decisions are all apart of risk management and can negatively affect business relations. Performance Measures Ensuring the survival of Lawrence Sports depends heavily on the ability to measure the performance of the recommended policy. Understanding what working capital entails enables one to review the data efficiently and make the appropriate decisions. Working capital is financed through accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory. Performance indicators as described by Luhring (2012) to determine days of working capital (DWC) are days sales outstanding in accounts receivable (DSO), day sales outstanding in inventory (DSI), and days sales outstanding in accounts payable (DPO). The equation is DWC = DSO + DSI – DPO† (para. 7). Last, determining working capital requires DWC multiplied by daily sales (Luhring, 2012, para. 33). Evaluating and calculating the indicators allows Lawrence Sports to optimize its working capital and work to balance its liabilities and assets. These indicators can help track performance on a weekly and monthly base. Benchmarking annually can further aid in improving performance as well as creating new ideas or tools to assist in growing the company (Broxton Bowbray, 2011). Implementation Plan Lawrence currently uses a combination of current assets in the form of cash from receivables along with trade credit from vendors and a line of credit from the bank to fund operations. The firm’s largest customer, Mayo Stores, provides a major portion of the receivables Lawrence uses to fund current operations. Additionally, based on the scenario whenever Lawrence must become more aggressive with Mayo to receive payment the retailer retaliates by ordering less in subsequent months. Further the unexpected challenge to replace a portion of the goods due to damage in transit did not help Lawrence’s position. In the short term now that the relationship with the distributor has been severed Lawrence will need to establish a new relationship with a different logistical partner. The finance team will need to review all trade agreements with vendors and customers with an eye on shortening the cash conversion period. Even reducing the conversion period a few days will result in a cost savings in paying down the line of credit. In addition to negotiating better terms with both vendors and customers, Lawrence could consider alternative funding sources such as issuing commercial paper or establishing a receivables funding relationship with a private source to better leverage current assets. Oedipus Rex Analysis Essay In Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, Oedipus tried to make the world that he lived better by trying to kill people that he thought made the problems in the city. He said that he wanted to find the men who were responsible for the plague in the city. Then he would kill them and get rid of the problem. He also said that he wanted to rid the city of all the people that were causing all the pollution in the city. He planed to do this by killing them all. Then the prophet, Teiresais came to him and told him that he couldnt do this. He said the reason that he couldnt do this was that he was the problem. But Oedipus did not believe him. He then killed an innocent shepherd for no apparent reason. He also slept with his mother and killed his father in the play. The prophet had said this would happen so he did it. I think he figured it was his fate so he just did it. Then to top it all of he decided to punish him self by gouging out his eyes. I really see no point in what he did in any part of the play. I really dont think that he had the right to try and change the city by killing anyone who he thought was corrupting or polluting the city. It shows that he was very stubborn in his ways. He didnt even stop to think of what he was doing. He was killing innocent people an obvious crime against the state and religion. And with his own views on this he should have realized that he is going against all that he stands for. He is trying to get rid of people that are just like him. Now on to him killing his father and sleeping with his mother. This is wrong no matter how you look at it. This is again a crime against religion. Even if the prophet said that this was to happen he doesnt have to go out of his way to do it. He should have just been patient and let his fate happen. Now his gouging out his eyes to punish himself is a ridiculous thing to do. He should have thought about what a burden this would be on others around him. For example how this would effect his daughter. He should have asked himself how her life would be if she had to guide him around all the time. Maybe then he wouldnt have done such a stupid thing. In my personal opinion on Oedipus, I think he was a pathetic man. He sdidnt care how his actions would effect others. He also didnt take the time to see if he was doing things that were actually going against his own beliefs. Oedipus was also very stubborn in that he wouldnt listen to what the prophet had to tell him. If he wasnt so narrow minded maybe he would have lived a happier life and not brought so much sorrow to the people around him.

The playwright was by Stephen Mallatratt in the The New Victoria Theater and we watched this on the 1st February 2010 I thought that the play was very clever in which they directed the whole play.  The play basically is this old man called Kipps who wants to tell people his story about this woman who lost her child and sister in a horse and trap accident in the marshes. The actor and Kipps swap roles, as Kipps dose not understand how to make his three-hour story interesting. She wasted away from the inside out ad became sallowed and pale faced. These happenings keep occurring. During the end scenes the actor is playing `Kipps after everything is sorted out all the deeds of the lady who died he gets married and they go for a walk in the park their son shows interest in the horse and trap that goes around the park. His wife and son go for a ride until suddenly the actor sees the woman in black. Before he knows it the horse and trap gets rammed into a tree the child instantly dies and the wife is seriously injured and soon dies from multiple injuries. What the actor thinks that this is the surprise Kipps has been talking about until Kipps explains that his surprise was that he learned his lines. The audience gained an understanding of the play with the help of reccouring motifs such as the sound of hooves getting caught up and the sound of the cracking of the wooden wheel breaking and the bloodcurdling scream. The whole of the plays meaning folds out gradually as he find the papers that explain how they died and they pack so much in to a minuite when realization just suddenly hits you.  Kipps objective in the play is to explain his story and see if all these happenings will stop and she will leave everyone in peace. The actors ambition in the play is to make Kipps perform a good and interesting play on his story. Kipps motivation is the persistence and help of the actor whos goal is to help this old man tell his story to friends and family. At the beginning of the play Kipps is a mumbling old man who is most likely nervous and not very confident, as he mumbles and drones about every detail of that day. He doesnt really move around or change his monotone voice and his gestures are very simple and there arent very many of them. When the actor tries and shows him how to try and cut down on the boring parts and ad tones into his voice. Eventually Kipps understood and was trying out lots of different voices so we could tell that he was a different character, as they didnt have many props. They both seemed to have a lot of focus and didnt panic if anything went wrong. The actor seemed very convincing and was very good at acting Kipps, and Kipps playing all the extra parts. The performance was enhanced by how little the amount of props they had to work with. The stage was also very interesting in the way that it sloped downwards and the horse and cart mixed with the scream was very powerful and really made a shiver run down your spine. All the colours were quite dull and dark which helped add to the sense of mystery and superstition of the following scenes.  I think that the play was very good and used lots of drama mediums and elements to produce a good performance even if they used very little props and did not have a very big stage along with only three actors.

Asthma affects the airways to become over-sensitive and react to colds and flus or dust mites even family animals, these are called triggers. Effects of Industrialization and the Conditions of the Working Class in England In the middle of the 19th century the industrial revolution was flourishing in England. With all of the advancements in machinery there would be new opportunities and drawbacks for citizens. Many would leave their lives on the farms and work in factories with unsafe settings. Karl Marx felt that the new advancements in society were able to support the fourth stage of human development, Communism. Along with these new advancements the people would have to learn how to self-govern themselves in the workplace and understand their new responsibilities. England possessed the right settings for the autonomous operation of the economic forces that generated industrialization. Before the industrial revolution England was mainly an agrarian society. Then there was a radical change that moved the citizens from farms and into cities. With the large rise in England’s population there was also a larger demand for goods. There was a necessity for quicker and more efficient methods of producing those goods. During the beginning of the 19th century there was a large push of inventions to help create a more mechanical society. By 1848, when the "Communist Manifesto" was written, machinery had already been assimilated into society.1 The industrial revolution made transportation, commerce, and communication more accessible to the masses. Britain already had many navigable rivers and also utilized the inventions from the revolution to improve even more.2 One of the biggest contributions to those was that of the steam engine. Stress Is a major Issue amongst teenagers and this can be caused by a variety of Issues but today, I will be talking about drug abuse amongst teenagers. Firstly, stress Is the body's reaction to any sort of pressure. Chemicals are released into the blood and these chemicals give the body more energy and strength (Helped. Org (2014)). Drug abuse is the dependence by teens to illegal substances which can lead to stress and can affect many different aspects of a teenager's life such as physical, emotional and social health aspects.This usually happens at the time of when teenagers are shifting from dependence to independence. However, in building a supportive environment with friends, family and outside organizations will aid in the development of knowledge and personal skills that will increase people's abilities to deal with and overcome stress related to substance abuse. Drug abuse is a stress related Issue which can have an impact on any environment; on peers In school as well as th e environment In a teenager's house. They have an Impact not only on the user but on their surroundings.Firstly, taking drugs can have many stressful side effects as It may damage relationships at home and with friends, leisure as well as the performance in school. In families, the parents may be very attentive with the child which is involved with drugs, forgetting their other siblings and putting stress on them. But drugs do not only affect social health as well as physical health; Heavy use of some drugs can damage organs and lead to illness and sharing needles to inject drugs can transfer serious diseases.Physical damage can also lead to further stress being implemented on the person taking drugs, as well as those who are willing to help or provide support (National Drugs Campaign, (2014)). Over the last 30 years there have been various fluctuations In data relating to drug usage. Drug abuse amongst teens had Its major start earlier In the ass's, where 42% of teens were Involved with drugs; this declined In the ass's, as 34% of Australians had admitted to smoking marijuana.The percentage of teens Involved with drugs has gone from 38% to 20% and the percentage of other drugs such as inhalants, LSI and for the first time cocaine, had declined in 1999. (Gallup, l. (2002)). To obtain recent data, a survey has been conducted amongst several teenagers in Helplessness High to determine the extent of drug usage. It has been demonstrated that half of the students either have experienced drugs or know someone who has, and 80% of the eons that were surveyed find that drugs are a cause of medium or very high stress.Some evidence that supports the data collected amongst the Helplessness students is a study reported August 4, 2008, which reveals that stress and drug abuse of any sort are highly linked. The stress goes both ways as one can lead to the other, setting up a vicious circle; 73% of teens have admitted that school stress Is a primary reason for drug abuse ( Mi randa, L. (2008)). In order to reduce stress related to drug abuse amongst teens, changes are necessary In order to successfully provide social Justice ND improve policies that are currently being advocated.Strategies such as looking even rehab have been suggested by Helplessness High students for those who suffer from the stress linked to drug abuse. Seeking help from an organization has been the most popular option amongst the teens surveyed in Helplessness High as 82% of the students have suggested this approach. This is due to the fact that in organizations, teens are often able to seek advice from a third party. This will increase the supportive environment for teens as they can access more information in order to help them deal with their own issues.Organizations such as the Queensland Injectors Health Network, the Mental Health and Wellbeing that can be found in the Queensland government website, as well as the Australian Drug Foundation have been suggested as good options (S LD. Gob. AU, (2014)). The UDF is a well-known organization which deals specifically with drug and alcohol addiction and seems to have been successful as many suggested this option. Talking to a family member was the second best chosen option with 78% of the students' votes followed by talking to friends with 66%.These two options may help those who are in the early stages of their drug addiction and can yet be talked out of it. The support provided by either one can help the teen to find a healthy way to relieve stress or also, having someone to talk to can further help the teen. Although there are many services available and offering to help those in need, there are also many barriers which can interfere on the success of these initiatives. Barriers such as the denial of help as well as the inaccessibility can deprive many teens from overcoming their addiction.This is why organizations should be positioned in spread out areas. An idea of a strategy could be a school based support g roup for those who are in need of help in Helplessness State High and this group would be funded by the government. Overall, we can see how stress and drug abuse are two major issues which are highly linked and one aspect can lead to the other. However, anyone who suffers from drug addiction is not trapped to the issue as there are many strategies which can offer the help needed and support the teen to going back to living a normal life.The UDF organization is, once again an option that teens can turn to. We can see that these strategies have been successful throughout the past years as the percentage of teens addicted to drugs has decreased. In conclusion, anyone can overcome a drug addiction due to the supportive environment provided by our school and pears, and social Justice that can be created for them if enough effort is displayed on their behalf and also on the government's behalf to continue in providing support and information.

Therefore, the importance of Jack London in the development of American Literature can be explained through a discussion of his life, his career, and the time period during which he lived. Brunelleschis dome

Brunelleschis dome I'm writing about Brunelleschi's dome atop the Cathedral of Florence, I chose this work because it not only illustrates what one man can accomplish when he has a great vision of something, but also because its such a beautiful piece of architecture and the first thing you see when you enter Florence. Another beautiful thing about it is that Brunelleschi wasn't an architect, or a carpenter, he was a goldsmith and a clock maker. The dome was modeled after the Pantheon from Roman architecture; nobody believed that he could create a self supporting dome of that size.The dome his breathtakingly large and sits atop the Cathedral of Florence, with clay colored shingles on the roof and a steeple at the top. It looks to be the size of a city block from the photos I've seen. When looking up at it, it seems to completely engulf the sky above you.Florence Cathedral dome.It is the largest dome in the world, 143 feet in diameter and was basically erected literally straight into thin air (King 151) .It all began in 1418 when Brunelleschi won the commission to take on the Cathedral that had been sitting dome less in the middles of the city; the Cathedral had already been under construction for more than a century. This came soon after he had lost the commission to build the Great Doors to Ghilberti. The dome has since become known as the centerpiece of Florence and definitely the first thing you see when entering the city. Just goes to show you that losing isn't always a bad thing to happen.
